Windows 7 Update Does Not Work

Dec 5, 2017 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

Windows 7 is and will remain the most widely used operating system, meaning that bugs and OS issues are significant. And currently, there is a massive one, because, for some users of Windows 7, Windows Update is disturbed.

Windows 7 Update

The operating system released in 2009 is currently not running smoothly because users of Windows 7 are currently getting an error. This has the error code with the number 80248015 and was first observed on 3 December. Not only Windows 7 is affected, but also Windows Server 2008 (R2).
The Windows Update can not search for new updates, others get the message that Windows Update can not currently check for updates because the (associated) service is not running. In addition, they get the information that they might have to restart their computer.

The ComputerWorld has found the cause: Because apparently, the operating system has a kind of expiration date, which must be fixed by Microsoft. Because in the CAB file, which can be found under C: \ Windows \ SoftwareDistribution \ AuthCabs \ authcab.cab, the 3rd of December 2017 is listed as “ExpiryDate”.

Microsoft has to fix that, but here’s the rather big question of how. Although “only” this expiration date has to be corrected, which becomes difficult when Windows Update is deactivated. It is thus possible for users to manually import a hotfix, which could be a problem given the large number of Windows 7 users.

There are already several workarounds: The simplest way to outsmart the expiration date is to reset the system time, it is probably possible (but it does not work for everyone), to deactivate “Updates for Microsoft Product Search” in Windows Fix update.
