Those of you who were still resenting the WhatsApp new status update and wanted the old status to come back, well be happy then, as WhatsApp had announced that it will bring back the old WhatsApp Text status soon. The newly incorporated status tab in the WhatsApp allows users to give detailed stories like status option where you can share videos and pictures with your WhatsApp contacts.
These are similar to SnapChat stories, which will self-destruct after 24 hours. However apparently a significant amount of people vehemently opposed this move. Hence WhatsApp brings back the text status on public demand.

However the new status is here to stay and it will not be obliterated. So whoever likes to share photos and videos through WhatsApp status are most welcome to do so too. However the older and simpler WhatsApp text status options can be found where is was originally. Just like before, you can find your own status and edit it under your profile settings at the bottom in the About and phone number section. And you can see the statuses of other users in their profile page in the same place.
This feature is currently found in the beta version of WhatsApp however the roll up to all the users will be commenced soon. In an official statement to techcrunch, WhatsApp gave out following information

“We heard from our users that people missed the ability to set a persistent text-only update in their profile, so we’ve integrated this feature into the ‘About’ section in profile settings. Now, the update will appear next to profile names anytime you view contacts, such as when creating a new chat or looking at Group info. At the same time, we’re continuing to build on the new Status feature that gives people fun and engaging ways to share photos, videos and GIFs with their friends and family throughout their day.”
First the roll out will reach the Android users and then the iOS devices too.

The text status was a very useful option. Through it the users could quickly inform their friends and family important updates about themselves. For example if your battery is just about to die, instead of messages all of the concerned people, you can just update the status and everyone can know. Also in a meeting, in class, busy etc were useful statuses in telling people about the person’s current whereabouts. Not everyone has the time or inclination to share pictures or videos all the time with everyone. Also the status would self-destruct after twenty four hours and some people needed the statuses to stay for longer periods of time.
So WhatsApp has chosen the best option to keep everyone happy. Now people who are into making SnapChat like stories and share with their friends can enjoy the new status from the status tab while the others can go to the traditional status option.
