On Saturday at least 17.69 million registered users were simultaneously logged on to the platform. This is the largest number that has been recorded so far. Compared to the previous weekend, this was another solid jump, but it was partly due to the fact that several users stopped by to perhaps dust off one or the other Black Friday offer.

Nevertheless, the development is quite impressive. After all, it has only been a few months since Valve proudly presented its then latest record numbers. In April, around 14 million players were logged in to Steam every day. And it went up and up – and this despite a not idle competition. Be it GOG, UPlay or Origin, it is clear that the competitors are also diligently engaged in attracting new customers.

However, Steam continued to grow from month to month and new record numbers were regularly released when the next million mark was surpassed. However, this does not necessarily mean that the logged-in players are also active in one game at a time. When the 17.69 million users were online, 6.81 million had actually started a game. The rest were busy with various other possibilities of the platform.

You can now be curious about how much it will be this year. Because apart from the normal growth, which is likely to break the 18-million mark soon even without Black Friday, it is above all the Christmas days, which are likely to bring a decent plus. Fueled by new content and a lot of free time, the number of 20 million logged in users could be a realistic option.
