On May 19, Samsung hosted a Mobile Solutions Form held in Shenzhen, China to share the latest technological and how the company is going to continue to improve this technology that continues to power on our consumer electronics.
One of these components happened to be the company’s 10 nanometer LPDDR4 mobile DRAM chip, and 6GB of it. Right now, we have seen a handful of smartphones feature 6GB of memory, but perhaps none of them were manufactured on a small lithography. So what is going to be ultimate advantage of having 10nm 6GB LPDDR4 present in future mobile devices and tablets? Well, the fact that the memory is made on the 10nm technology so it will be extremely efficient compared to the last generation’s technology.
With smartphones and tablets running on lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries, and we do not see this technology changing anytime soon despite numerous breakthroughs, the smaller manufacturing process will help to conserve even more battery life. Since Samsung unveiled its 10nm 6GB LPDDR4 DRAM, it also foreshadows other facts as well. This could mean that this next generation memory technology could be present in the company’s upcoming Galaxy Note 6, which is said to feature a 5.8-inch screen and a 4,000mAh battery.
Samsung’s CEO Choi for its semiconductor and display business said the following statement at the forum:
“In the ever-changing mobile market, innovation is to promote the sustainable development of the same power. Samsung will through continuous technological innovation, to maintain differentiated products and services, leading China Mobile market growth and leap.”
Currently, Samsung happens to be the leading manufacturing of flash memory and flash memory related products, as well as DRAM, so it looks like the tech giant is going to be remain at the top stop for a long period of time.
