The tech giant wants to launch itself once again in the big bad world of mobile phones manufacturers with the Ice Smartphones. The name seems quite ironic as previously the failed Amazon mobile phone series was named Amazon fire that had been discontinued in 2015 after not being able to capture significant amount of market.
Although Amazon Kindle ruled the market Amazon Fire Mobile phones failed to sustain the competitive mobile phone industry. Now they want to make a comeback through a new mobile phone set called the Ice Smartphones. This time Amazon is not planning to just launch the phone for US and a couple of other western markets but it wants to target the emerging markets like India and China that have a huge amount of potential.

Ice Smartphones Price
However in order to target the emerging markets the main thing is to keep the price at an affordable level. And that is exactly what Amazon is planning to do. The new Amazon phone is rumored to be priced at a mere $93 which makes it quite affordable. In fact it is compatible to Chinese mobiles from Xiaomi and Nubia which are relatively very popular in the emerging markets.
Ice Smartphones Features
In fact at this price range the US market would also be quite interested in the Ice smartphones. Here are the features that we know up till now.
- An HD display of size between 5.2 to 5.5 inch
- A 13 MP rear camera and a front camera of around 8 MP.
- 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.
- It will be Android based and come with functional Google Assistant.
- It will have a finger print scanner at the back and would be based in Snapdragon 435 soC.
