The Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei has been able to record a renewed increase in its sales, but apparently gets like many other manufacturers the flattening growth in the smartphone market.Instead of mass, therefore, the margin should count in the future, after all, Huawei also wants to continue the success next year.

According to news agency Reuters, citing information from Huawei, which the company released via its official account with Chinese messaging service provider WeChat, around 153 million Huawei smartphones were sold in 2017 so far. In addition, the company’s market share on the global average has risen to over 10 percent, said the current Huawei CEO, Ken Hu.

For the full year 2017, Hu expects sales to increase by a good 15 percent, with concrete talk of around 600 billion yuan, which is just under 77 billion euros. Although these are still good numbers given the difficult situation in the smartphone market, it would ultimately be the lowest sales growth for Huawei in about four years.

Although the competition in the smartphone market is large, the profit margins are rather low, Huawei wants to focus more on the generation of profits in the future, according to Hu. On the one hand, it wants to bet on the one hand higher average prices for smartphone sales, but on the other hand, especially in the enterprise sector, to make progress. The wholesale market should become one of the company’s central pillars within five years.

Hu emphasizes that end-user products such as smartphones, tablets and personal computers are set to continue working towards increasing profitability, while cloud services are becoming more widespread and that the core mobile equipment business should continue to keep the competition in check.
