Galaxy S9 is a little tighter than iPhone X because of the curved edges which almost make the side frames completely non-existent. However, the edges are a little more accentuated on the bottom and the top. The edges also have features which can help you do some quick tasks. For instance, you can set shortcuts. S9’s Edge Panel has an App Pairing feature which lets you launch two apps at the same time. So, if you are switching between two apps constantly, you can set a shortcut which will open both the apps in two windows, and let you switch between them easily. The Dex docks let you project your Galaxy S9 on a monitor, It also lets you use the phone as a keyboard and a trackpad. Samsung’s 2017 flagship, Galaxy S8, claimed to have three methods of unlocking. However, all of them were pretty unstable, slightly usable, and most of all the fingerprint reader was in a very awkward place. A lot of complaints were made regarding it. So, this year, Samsung has incorporated the input from users in Galaxy S9, moving the fingerprint scanners immediately below the main camera. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus also have the Intelligent Scan, which is a combination of facial recognition and iris scanner to unlock the phone. It has been designed to make unlocking easier. On the other hand, Apple’s iPhone X has the FaceID technology. It has a pretty reliable three-dimensional face scanning. It uses the True Depth camera. However, it is not so fast, and the other method to unlock the phone is setting a passcode. Last year, Samsung S8 was criticized for having three barely usable unlocking mechanisms. S9 has changed that and the device has been made more favorable by the repositioning of the fingerprint sensor to a reliable position. Samsung deserves props for this.
