Android Nougat 7.0 releases today.

Aug 23, 2016 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

Android Nougat is rolling out to Nexus devices today and is available to users of Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6 along with Nexus 9 and Nexus Player set-top box, the General Mobile 4G Android One smartphone and Pixel C tablets.

Google has surprised everyone with this release, as it’s not like them to release a new version of android that is not alongside a new Nexus hardware. Google seemed to be extra careful with their android N release as they had launched a similar platform, Android 7.0 open beta and then a stable version of that one at I/O in May which apparently was to serve the purpose of a dummy version or a template.

Some notable features are the grouping of notifications in each applications, the user can pull down to view them or even reply directly from the notifications panel, that us a feeling of dejavu… that’s right iOS has had this one for quite some time now. Other than this and the multi-tasking mode nothing mentionable has been seen in the OS and we are hoping for some interesting updates that might be attention-worthy.

Multi_Window_6P

Coming towards the multi-tasking feature we mentioned earlier, however it is most suitable for tablets or notebooks, it works on smartphones too. The feature lets you run multiple apps simultaneously (that’s right iOS 9 here again) but none the less the overall result needs to be appreciated as its much better that what we expected it would be.

Another prominent improvement is the modifying of the Doze function, that was introduced in Android marshmallow, which was previously able to go into a battery saving mode when the device is stationary, is now smart enough to recognize when the phone is not in use and invoke the mode even when the device is moving like when its being moved around in a pocket or a purse.

The software updates operation seems to be a trivial concern but it really isn’t that insignificant. The previous nexus devices can get the update however it would be requiring a reboot. Android Nougat update can run in the background only on Nexus devices that re to be released from this point onwards and it would save us the trouble of rebooting the phone or having the inconvenience of a completely locked up or vegetable of a phone when the update is in process. As for the old devices, Google promises a speedy update process but none the less in an archaic fashioned way of a turned off phone till the update is complete.

New_Emoji

BUT here comes the most exciting one for text lovers…. The wide selection of new emojis…. Apparently the update offers us a bunch of 72 new emojis.

That’s all the notable features for now, there are many others that are yet not mentioned ofcourse, but these are the ones that we think most users will be hyped about.

Do leave us a comment and tell us what you like the most about Android N 7.0.
