Android apps will be downloaded more than iOS apps, according to a new report by App Annie. According to the report, Android users will spend more on applications than Apple users. This will increase the app revenue for android.
Android App Revenue Will Be Lead In Coming Years
Apple will no longer lead over Android in terms of mobile app revenue this year, says a new report from App Annie. But their estimate includes third-party Android application stores in the prediction, not only Google Play. If you compare the Apple App Store and Google Play alone, Apple is the leader, and it is likely to be a leader till 2021. App Annie has predicted global mobile application downloads to be more than 352 billion in 2021, and gross consumer expenditure on all app stores to be more than $139 billion. Most spending is expected to be on the iOS App Store. It is expected to churn over $60 billion in 2021. Google Play is expected to earn $42 billion, and third-party stores are expected to earn $36 billion. Third party stores include the Android app store offers by Xiaomi, Baidu, Tencent, Huawei, and others, They generated $10 billion in revenue the previous year, and they will grow to $20 billion in 2017, according to the report. The market for Android applications is growing because of mobile adoption in China and other emerging markets, like Brazil, Mexico, and Indonesia. This will also affect app downloads. Application downloads are evenly distributed across the globe but revenue is a different matter, according to App Annie. According to AppAnnie, the top 5 countries by downloads: China, India, U.S., Brazil, and Indonesia, accounted for around 54 percent of the downloads the previous year, and this statistic isn’t expected to change a lot by 2021. The top countries according to revenue: China, U.S., Japan, South Korea, and U.K., accounted for around75 percent of application store revenue last year. This is predicted to rise to 85 percent by 2021. The firm linked this increase to more spending on games and smartphone users’ subscriptions in developed markets like Japan, the U.S., and South Korea, and China, which is a maturing market. China plays a key role in the contribution to revenue to the app store. This is because of its huge population and growing middle class. Most of the Chinese app users are predicted to settle into a system of habitual use by 2021. The majority of Chinese app users are expected to settle into patterns of habitual use by 2021. This will make revenue growth sustained even at times when download levels are low. Downloads in China will grow at an annualized rate of 19 percent from 2016 to 2021, while consumer spend will grow 24 percent to $56.5 billion. In larger cities, much of the smartphone market in China is already saturated, meaning a lot of growth will come from other regions across the country. India, on the other hand, is still in the early stages of the app market maturity cycle, and will see significant download and revenue growth through 2021. Downloads will grow 28 percent to nearly 23 billion by 2021, and app store spend will grow an annualized rate of 75 percent to $2.1 billion. Even though India is progressing, consumer expenditure will be low because of factors like limited purchasing power and a culture that emphasizes spending. App developers in India target revenue models like advertising instead.
