Aug 17, 2015 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

A china based SoC designer AllWinner has recently leaked features of its upcoming chipset “A64”, an ultra-cheap 64-bit architecture chipset which will only cost $5. According to a media report of AllWinner, this SoC will go into mass production in June 2015. AllWinner A64 tends to serve high resolution panels to low-end tablets.

Despite its low price of $5, AllWinner A64 is going to be featured with four Cortex-A53 cores resulting in more than 30 percent performance as compared to Cortex-A7. Moreover, it will be supporting a range of memory LPDDR2, LPDDR3, DDR3 and DDR3L. It can concluded that AllWinner is planning to release its new chipset with comparatively low power consumption. Furthermore, Allwinner A64 will be able to deliver faster data transfer rates as it is using eMMC5.0 interface. However, users will have to use a high-performance MicroSD card to benefit from the speed. AllWinner claims that running on this particular SoC, tablets will be able to perform a cold boot lasting for 9.9 seconds.

AllWinner A64 details

Although partnership with any smartphone company of AllWinner is not confirmed yet, however there are many hypothesis on its new partner. Currently, TSMC is powerful semiconductor manufacturing company that provides a 64 bit architecture. Assumption are made for AllWinner forming a long-term partnership with TSMC. However, those are just predictions. Furthermore, it can be predicted that other smartphone companies tending to release a low budget and powerful phone will be keen to do partnership. Motive of AllWinner behind this low-priced SoC can be, to reduce price of tablet so everyone can afford them or to be the first company with such inexpensive Soc. Either way, if AllWinner does feature its new chipset AllWinner A64 with a price tag as low as $5, then a new era of cost effected tablets will be seen.
